Bethany Jones
Dear Parent:
My name is Bethany Jones, and I’d like to help your child become a happy reader. I deeply care about every child I teach and am
committed to helping your child. I am a professional educator, experienced in successfully helping many children learn to read. I am a parent like you. And as someone who struggled to read as a child, I personally understand how your child may feel as he or she yearns to be a better reader.
I have been an educator for fourteen years and have my Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland, my Master’s in Literacy from The Citadel, and my Lower Elementary Montessori certificate from Seacoast Montessori. This is my fifth year teaching Lower Elementary in a public Title I Montessori school. I work with children from various backgrounds in all subject matter. I plan daily instruction for 22 children and am responsible for their reading development. I was a Literacy Site Coordinator first for Charleston Book Buddies and then for Reading Partners (a reading intervention program for Charleston County Schools). As a Site Coordinator I trained volunteers to tutor elementary students who were struggling readers. I also served as a tutor.
When your child has a difficult time reading they can feel frustrated, not smart, like something is wrong with them, or that they are not as good as their peers. Every child deserves to feel successful and smart!  As a parent, I know how it feels to see your child struggle and to wonder what you should do to help your child.
I know firsthand the difference one-on-one instruction can make. I have a learning disability similar to Dyslexia. Growing-up, I struggled with reading. When the teacher called on me to read out loud I was scared and embarrassed. I always felt like I was not as smart as the other students. My grades were not good.  I broke my leg in the sixth grade and had a home bound teacher. Because of the one-on-one tutoring, I was able to complete all of my assignments and received A’s and B’s on all of my work! Tutors were critical to my success throughout my education.
If your child is struggling with reading please, contact me and let me help your child become a great reader and feel successful! Before you know it, your child will be asking to read to you!
